  Use The Experience of Your Staff
  The people who really know your data are the ones who process it every day. 

Don’t rely on software developers to guess what validation may be needed or to determine the most efficient and effective way of dealing with exceptions. 
   
  Educate Your Marketing Department
  Who designs the documents you collect data from? If it’s your marketing department, the chances are the documents look great, produce a good response but are a nightmare when it comes to capturing data.
